Club News
April 2010
President’s Message:
On behalf of the Board of Directors, we welcome you to join us for a new season at Mount Pleasant Tennis Club. We hope that all members have kept well over the winter and we look forward to you joining us again for the upcoming outdoor season, as the weather continues to warm up in Calgary. Last time I checked the snow was melting very nicely on the courts.
We have scheduled the club “clean-up day” on Saturday, April 24th (alternate Saturday May 1st). Although there is a lot of work to be done to get the Club ready for play, it is also a great opportunity to get out in the fresh spring air and get reacquainted with some old friends. We can always use some extra rakes, brooms and stepladders to make the work easier. Clean up will start at 10:00 A.M. and a free lunch will be provided. We do rely entirely on your volunteer labour to make this a successful event, so please consider joining us to lend a helping hand.
Opening Day will be Saturday, May 1st (alternate Saturday May 8th). As usual we will have a number of activities planned, as well as refreshments. This is also an excellent day to re-new your membership, if this will be your first visit to the Club of the year.
The Board is pleased to advise that there will be no increase in the 2010 annual dues. They remain at 2009 levels: Adult membership is $125.00, Seniors $75.00, Students $70.00 and Juniors $30.00. Entrance fees, for new members only, will also remain the same at $30.00 for Adults, $20.00 for Seniors and Students and nil for Juniors. Daily guest fees will also remain at $10.00/person/day (and only $5.00/person/day as a guest of a member).
As discussed at the AGM, we will be clearing out all lockers prior to the start of the season – all locks will be cut and the contents removed at noon on cleanup day (Saturday April 24, 2010). The contents will be available for the owners to pick up for two weeks following opening day and after that will be donated to charity. If you have a locker and are unable to show up on opening day or within the first two weeks following opening day, please contact a member of the board to make alternate arrangements to obtain the contents of your locker.
The Board is also in the process of preparing a brief set of rules (regarding court sign-up) and etiquette, which will be posted at the club by opening day and may also be included in our first Newsletter which we expect to have distributed by mid May.
Please find enclosed an application form to renew your membership at Mount Pleasant Tennis Club for 2010. Please complete the application and submit it to the Club as soon as possible.
Please note that 2009 memberships expire on March 31, 2010 and 2010 dues are payable by April 1st, or guest fees will apply.
Best regards,
Doug Morris ,
President
